Magnificent forests, coastal scenery and spectacular caves attract visitors to the southwest town of Yallingup. Surf enthusiasts are also drawn to Yallingup Beach which is renowned Australiawide for its excellent surfing.
Yallingup Cave is a major tourist attraction opening daily from 9.30am to 3.30pm. Here visitors can see many interesting formations including stalactites, stalagmites, helectites and shawl formations. The caves were discovered in 1899 and the historic Caves House Hotel was built in 1903. Early visitors travelled for over two hours from Busselton by horse and buggy to stay here. After being partially destroyed by fire, the hotel was rebuilt in 1938 from timber milled at the Old Mill, the district's only water driven sawmill.
Fine arts and crafts can be found in the Gunyulgup Gallery which is situated in a charming bush setting just south of Yallingup. Also a must for those interested in the arts is the Happ's Pottery and Winery built of mud brick. Many other art, craft and furniture galleries are located within a short distance of Yallingup.
Visitors can taste wines and pick their own vegetables and strawberries at the Rivendale Gardens on Wildwood Road. An art gallery is included and Devonshire teas are available.
For those wishing to swim, surf, fish and generally enjoy the region's beautiful scenery, the Canal Rocks and Smiths Beach are popular spots.
