Situated in the Midlands region, Kellerberrin was first settled in 1861 to be developed as a farming centre. The railway was laid in 1893 and the goldfields water scheme put through in 1901.
An ideal place to stop when passing through Kellerberrin is the Pioneer Park in Leake Street. It has many agricultural implements and early model tractors as well as barbecue facilities. Next door is the Kellerberrin Folk Museum which houses an interesting display of local exhibits.
Ten kilometres north of Kellerberrin is the Milligan Homestead and Outbuildings. The buildings were constructed from local fieldstone in 1871 and include a barn built without mortar. It was a popular place with early settlers who stopped here for water.
Mt Stirling and Mt Caroline are located 22 kilometres south of Kellerberrin. A climb to the top of Mt Stirling is well worth the effort to see lovely views of the surrounding countryside.
