A fisherman's paradise, Jurien is a popular holiday resort and fishing town situated on a sheltered bay 38 kilometres off the Brand Highway. The township is an important rock lobster centre with its own processing plant catering for the fishing and crayfishing fleets. Jurien was once an important shipping point for cargoes of wool and stock going to Fremantle and India.

Visitors to Jurien are offered brilliant beach and ocean recreation. There are first class facilities for boating enthusiasts at Jurien's Boat Harbour. A lovely climate and the promise of a good catch from beach, jetty or boat, make the area ideal for fishing.

Cockleshell Gully, situated just north of Jurien, boasts an unusually wide range of flora and fauna. This is probably due to the fact that three botanical districts meet and overlap in this area. The Gully is a popular haunt for bushwalkers and photographers.
