Hyden is an agricultural township located in Western Australia's Central South region. Wheat production commenced in the surrounding region in 1927 although the crop had to be carted to Kondinin until the railway from Lake Grace was extended.

The spectacular Wave Rock, located a few kilometres east of Hyden on a natural reserve, is the town's main claim to fame. This incredible granite cliff reaches 15 metres in height and is formed in the shape of a wave frozen at the point of breaking. The 'wave' formation has been created over 2700 million years by the weathering of the rock face. The colours streaking the rock, simulating the rolling motion of the sea, are the result of dissolved minerals seeping through the granite.

For the energetic, there are paths leading to the top of the rock where there is a panoramic view of the surrounding countryside. The Hippo's Yawn, an open cave which resembles a hippo's mouth, the Breakers, the Humps and Bates Cave are other rock formations in the vicinity worth visiting.

Hyden's other attractions include: A Wildlife Park which hosts animals and birdlife native to the area; opposite the park is the Wildflower Shop displaying dried native wildflowers and incorporating the Lace Place, an antique lace collection dating back to 1650 and Pioneer Town, a collection of memorabilia from Hyden's early days.
